Threads of Faith, a Christmas Miracle

 A Taste of Chapter I
December 16, 1840
Stafford, England

Placing my luggage beneath the willows, I stood cautiously concealed by the large birch tree, looking at the house that had once been my home for fourteen years.  It looked just as I imagined it would be for Christmas with holiday wreaths hung upon the door and the windows.  I had always loved Christmas, and instantly, I was flooded with thoughts of Christmas past. I could almost taste the fruit breads and pudding. I found myself wishing it could be as it had been before.

“Home,” I whispered. Yet, a sadness filled my mind as a sting of a memory remained. I could almost hear those smarting demands of my Father. It seemed as fresh, as if it was yesterday when he said, “ Your name shall never be spoken of here again.”
That door, that very door now holding a holiday wreath had been closed to me.  It all happened as a result of my curiosity.   I was just fourteen then. James Mooney had told my friend Sarah that some missionaries from America had been baptizing people down by Blythe Bridge.  Sarah was always looking for new adventures, so she asked me to attend a church gathering of those
missionaries at the Bowman’s farmhouse.

Delight in another Christmas favorite :
FREE, One Santa Suit

Jillian, a widow, has finally decided to locate someone who will appreciate her husbands handmade Santa suit.

Jillian was hopeful when John Minson agreed to a personal interview.
Jillian eagerly opened the front door.  Standing before her stood a man wearing a hospital mask that covered his nose and mouth.
“Don’t mind me, this is not a hold up.  I want to be Santa Claus.”
Removing his hat, Jillian stood wide-eyed and speechless.
            “You’re bald!”
“Gosh, can you believe it,” he chuckled, “All I want for Christmas is hair, so I need a real man’s hat to cover my losses.
I saw your ad and got a great idea and so here I am at your doorstep.”
Noticing Jillian’s, chagrin and serious face he continued with a warm and personable voice, “I’d like to try and fill those Santa boots.”  Standing taller he affirmed, “You see, I believe I know how the children going through cancer treatments feel.  Well lets just say,” then clearing  his throat he started to sing a familiar Christmas melody, “They need a little Christmas, right this very minute!”
Jillian stood back, marveling and found a moment to laugh, as well as find an instant affection for him.
“I believe I am just who you are looking for.  First, my eyes sparkle, I have a great deep laugh, “Ho, Ho, Ho,” he bellowed.  “Pretty good huh?  I’ve gained some weight from my treatments which naturally gives me that little round belly look.” he said, giving her a side profile. “Not bad?  Most importantly, I have a desire to make those sick kids a little happier. Take their minds off the treatments.  Can you imagine the children when they see Santa with an IV Drip, dangling from a bag? A bald Santa to boot!
